labrador3The prime location of Ocean County, NJ is a major reason why it’s the fastest growing county in the state. 70 miles south of New York City, 50 miles east of Philadelphia and 25 miles north of Atlantic City. As of the 2013 Census, Ocean County had a population of 583,411 and a median household income of $60,227. It is also the second largest county in the state, with 638 square miles of pine barrens and barrier islands, and a 45-mile coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.

Ocean County’s most popular attractions are the beaches and boardwalks of Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights, Long Beach Island and other beachfront communities. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson is home to the world’s tallest roller coaster and the largest drive-thru animal safari outside of Africa. Lakewood Blueclaws baseball games are always packed with Ocean County families, while the Ocean County Mall and the Jackson Premium Outlets are popular shopping destinations.

First explored by Dutch explorers in 1613, Ocean County was officially established in 1850 from portions of Monmouth County south of the Manasquan River. Toms River is the county seat.
